back to wisconsin...

we made our second trip to madison, wisconsin to participate in the bilateral cochlear implant study.  Although it was two full days of travel and two days of straight testing, we had another great time.
it was really interesting to see the improvement from last year's results compared to this year.

one (of 3) airplane rides there...

DAY ONE:
localization tests...

reward time...

study break...

showing off his sticker box...

 speech testing...

showing off his big reward for a day of great "listening & talking"...

relaxing in the hotel after day one...

strolling the local mall...

his dinner of choice, McDonald's...

i had promised him ice cream but could not find an ice cream shop within walking distant, so lucky for me, he settled for finding a grocery store and getting some ben & jerry's with a bottle of colored sprinkles...
 jjj

DAY TWO:
more language/speech recognition tests...

break time...

non-verbal intelligence tests...

we always love our time with the kind (and patient) ladies at the WU speech center and look forward to going back next year.

What great pictures! It must have been tiring, but definitely worth it for all information on the benefits of hearing out of two ears vs. just one. I love the picture with the "almost there" sign- too cute!

So cute. We are hoping to be part of the study soon too- we are only 80 miles from Madison. Such a fun place.

Adorable pictures!!! You have a lovely blog. I am writing to let you know that I have written a book about deafness. I am trying to get the word out to parents of deaf and hard of hearing children. My book is entitled, If A Tree Falls: A Family's Quest to Hear and Be Heard. There's a lot of information about it at http://www.ifatreefalls.com. I hope you'll take a look.
All my best wishes,

Jennifer Rosner

Hey I was given a link to your blog through Monica Bishop. Our 11month old daughter was just recently diagnosed with LVA that can be a progressive hearing loss. I'd LOVE to talk to you about your experience with your son. Evie, our daughter, will be getting her first set of hearing aids next week. She has a moderate loss in both ears right now.
I'd love to hear from you if you wouldn't mind sharing some knowledge with me!!! . . .
